DOUGLAS INNOVATION

Craft and capability under one roof.

At Douglas, the workshop sits at the heart of everything we do. It’s where outdoor living and advanced textile craftsmanship come together, and where custom solutions are carefully developed to suit each space.

From one-off pieces to full-scale fabrication, our team of skilled makers design, refine, and build work they stand behind — made to last, and made to fit right.

CUSTOM CRAFTS

What we do

We don’t just make things look good. We make them work — properly.

  • Upholstery & squabs – From marine seating to commercial fit-outs and home pieces, we craft upholstery that balances comfort, durability, and finish.
  • Covers & protection – Boat covers, vehicle protection, outdoor furniture covers — built tough, fitted right, and designed for New Zealand conditions.
  • Canvas & shade solutions – Custom canvas work, repairs, and textile structures that solve real-world problems — not just standard sizes.
  • Repairs & reworks – Not everything needs replacing. We bring existing pieces back to life, extending their use and saving unnecessary cost and landfill.

EXPERTISE

Our credentials

Our depth of experience means your project is in capable hands — whether it’s a complex commercial brief or something you really care about, like a prized boat or vehicle.

With over 25 years behind it, the Douglas workshop is built on experience. Our team includes highly skilled fabricators, many with 10–15+ years on the tools, and qualified Industrial Textile Fabricators trained through MAST New Zealand.

It’s a balance of old-school craftsmanship and modern capability — combining hands-on experience with advanced fabrics, precision cutting, and welding technology to deliver work that’s sharp, consistent, and built to last.
