Douglas most awarded at national OFPANZ Awards 2019

Douglas took out four national awards at the OFPANZ Awards 2019, including Excellence in Marine Upholstery for two years’ running.

Our team are very proud to have won the 2019 OFPANZ (Outdoor Fabric Products Association of NZ) Awards for:

• Marine Upholstery Excellence (second year in a row – here’s last year’s winner)
• Awnings Highly Commended (for two tricky LLAZA retractable awning installations)
• Tensioned Structures <50m Excellence (for a custom Alitex Curved Canopy)
• Ryan Stewart – Highly Commended for the booster seat he created for the Apprentice of the Year award

Amongst a group of 104 national entries covering 11 categories, Douglas received the highest number of accolades on the night.

Owner Pete Swinburn reflects on the team effort. “We are incredibly proud of our team and the energy they’ve put in to the work this year” says Pete. “Innovating some of these more complex jobs isn’t always straight forward and we’re really impressed with the ability of our team to persevere, problem solve and come up with stunning end results that can compete on the national stage.”

The OFPANZ Awards are the industry’s opportunity to benchmark work against peers from across the country. This year’s conference and awards night, held at Hawke’s Bay’s own Napier Conference Centre, attracted a record number of attendees.

OFPANZ President Kylie Glenn was suitably impressed with the awards this year. “We received 21 more entries than last year and the calibre of work was very high, which made a great challenge for the judges. As an industry, it is fantastic to see a high level of participation and local businesses bringing their staff along to the gala dinner so everyone can share in the success.”

Several of the Douglas team members were there on the night to receive awards for jobs they had a part in.

We are so proud of our team who are clearly on a roll. We would also like to thank OFPANZ for the excellent conference and awards night, for bringing our industry together and to everyone who put an entry into the awards – seeing the fantastic work others are doing is insightful and inspiring for us all.
