Art Deco Louvres – a perfect match

This time we got the chance to pair our top quality NZ Louvres roof with a classic Art Deco home in Napier and see what a great match it was.

The Project

The clients had engaged a landscaper to redesign their outdoor area and after getting some ideas they came to Douglas. They wanted something to with a typical Art Deco house.

Stephen, our head of sales, points out that “No two jobs are alike and that isn’t a bad thing.” This project was about incorporating the new structure to an existing design so it tied into the surrounding and the new landscaping.

The Douglas Innovative Solution

The clients visited our Hastings showroom where they were impressed by the NZ Louvres roof. Seeing the roof in person made it easier to make decisions about post size, consider lighting options and colours.

Once decisions for the roof were made, they focussed on other details. With a seaside location and a classic Art Deco house, they didn’t want either to be hidden by dark balustrades. They chose glass panels for the deck that allow sea views from the house and keeping the Art Deco style centre stage.

With a new outdoor room in process, it was time to renew outdoor furniture. Douglas recovered their deck chairs in a durable outdoor fabric that fit with their colours.

Wanting the deck to be for daytime and night-time use, the clients chose LED strip lighting that gives a warm glow by reflecting light into the closed louvres. The finished look is striking during the day as well as after dark when this home becomes a feature on the esplanade.
